I've noticed a load of people complain about Thingiverse customizer, so thought I would share instructions for easily running it on your own PC. If you have a even slightly modern PC, it will probably run better then the online customizer.

Thingiverse suffers from episodes of appallingly bad performance, and the search function is sketchy, at best.

besides thingiverse.com, what other sites do yall use for stl files?
It seems crazy to me that Thingiverse still has such a terrible search engine and analytics tracking. Hopefully something takes the spotlight or Thingiverse finally fixes their issues.

Thingiverse is still very valid and growing. I actually looked at the data from their API to see how much it has grown over the years and whether the rate has decreased - it doesn't seem like it has.

Thingiverse and cults3d are both legit and probably the first stop for most printers. Thingiverse is for free models but quality is all over the place and cults is better quality models but most have a price tag.
